Playwrights, send us your scripts now!
The Cheshire Unicorn presents the latest incarnation of the exciting monthly experimental script reading sessions called Gestation Series on the first Monday of each month. It is an opportunity for new scripts to be read by actors, where preference is given (but not limited) to scripts which are written for the stage and explore experimental subject matter or way of showing a story
Each month there is a draw for The Birth Canal, where the chosen writer is allotted one month to write a script on a topic given that evening. The Birth Canal script is presented at the next Gestation Series.
WHO can participate?
Participation is open to any playwrights or actors interested in the development of new experimental work for the stage as well as general public who are interested in hearing new experimental works.
WHEN is it happening?
The first Monday of every month, starting at 8pm at The Cameron House (408 Queen St. W, Toronto) in the back room. Playwrights and performers arrive at 7pm for casting.
HOW to participate:
Playwrights – email your script to gestation@cheshireunicorn.com with contact information, a synopsis and character breakdown. You can also give in hard copies on the night of the series for future readings, or arrange to send by snail mail. Preference is given towards experimental material that runs 20 minutes or less.
Actors –Arrive at the Cameron House on the Gestation Series night at 7pm for casting. Public reading begins at 8pm.
Audience – Show up at 8pm and get ready to hear some great stuff! Admission is pay-what-you-can.
