The Saddest Girl in the World

Written by: Cassie Beecham
Directed by: Melissa Major
Featuring: Justin Bott, Noa May Dorn, Ryan Fisher & Cathy Gordon

El [Noa May Dorn] fights depression with apathy. Her life is spiraling downhill... Her father is dead and living with Rita (her apocalypse-fearing mother) is turning more tumultuous by the hour. She doesn’t go to college, have a job, or really do a whole lot of anything. When Rita [Cathy Gordon] asks her to pay rent, El befriends Alex [Ryan Fisher] and Bently [Justin Bott] in the basement and then decides that sleeping with them is the best solution to earn her some cash. Her plans explode in her face and she is forced to decide to move on or give up completely.

This world premiere by Cassie Beecham (MFA in playwriting at University of Guelph) promises to titillate audiences with the physical-focused direction of Cheshire Unicorn’s Artistic Director Melissa Major (Kid Cosmic, Unicorn Horns, Even Burning, Art is a Cupboard) and the hot cast of Noa May Dorn (The Women of Troy, A Thought in Three Parts, Rock Me Sweet), Ryan Fisher ( Beyond Therapy, Being at Home With Claude ) , Justin Bott (The Wedding Singer, Universal Studios’ The Blues Brothers, Wanda T. Grimsby, The Kid Cosmic) and Cathy Gordon (performance installations in: The Theatre Centre, Studio 303, Toronto Free Gallery, Music Gallery, The Drake Hotel, The Queen West Art Crawl, Hysteria Festival, DNA, Lab Cab, Buddies In Bad Times).

This is one apocalypse not to be missed.
